Graduation and Commencement

Graduate from UC Davis

Make sure you will fulfill all of your degree requirements by the quarter you intend to graduate.

At least two quarters prior to graduation, students at senior level status (135+) should perform a self-check of their degree requirements. View our graduation requirements page.

If you have completed a minor(s), submit your minor petition(s) on your OASIS advising tool, under the Forms and Petitions tab. Your petition(s) must be submitted by the 10th day of instruction of your graduation quarter. Requirements for each minor must be met by the time of graduation.

What happens next?

File to graduate with the Office of the University Registrar by the appropriate deadline for the quarter you intend to graduate. The graduation calendar is on the same webpage as the application.

After you file for graduation, your records will be reviewed by a Biology Academic Success Center adviser to determine if you comply with all graduation requirements. If you do not, you will be informed by the Biology Academic Success Center through an email to your UC Davis email account.

If you have questions about graduating with Honors, High Honors or Highest Honors consult the UC Davis General Catalog for the exact criteria.

Participate in Commencement

You need to register for commencement if you wish to participate in the graduation ceremony.

You must complete at least 150 units to be eligible to participate in the Fall commencement ceremony or at least 160 units to be eligible to participate in the Spring commencement ceremony, but you do not have to complete your degree in order to participate. Walking in the commencement ceremony does not equate to graduating. Graduation is only achieved through filing to graduate through the Office of the Registrar.

  • For example, you can participate in the Spring commencement ceremony, but complete your requirements in Summer Sessions and file to graduate for summer.

You can register for commencement at the Commencement website during the registration period. Please visit the Frequently Asked Questions page and other resource pages on the Commencement website to view more information on commencement logistics such as:
