Event Date
UC Davis is known for its research and scholarship in multiple areas, but did you know that faculty together with their graduate students and postdocs file for patents and records of innovation that get licensed by commercial companies and even start their own companies?
A panel of three UC Davis scientists who have launched or are on track to launch human health products will discuss what inspired them to look for direct applications of their research, how they navigated that transition, and what advice they may have for scientists who are wondering if or how to get started as entrepreneurs.
Panelists:
- Dr. Carlito B. Lebrilla has channeled his mass spectrometry research into identifying biomarkers for cancer.
- Dr. Ishita Shah‘s research on antibacterial peptides in human milk in collaboration with Dr. Lebrilla and two other UC Davis professors, Dr. Bruce German and Dr. David Mills, led to them co-founding a company for bioactive milk.
- Dr. Judith Van de Water’s immunology research led to developing a detection method for autism.
Pizza and coffee will be served.
The workshop is free, but space is limited. Register to reserve your spot.
